Executive Board meeting in Brussels

At the end of June, the Executive Board of UIMLA held a working meeting in Brussels, Belgium.

In addition to regular one-on-one discussions on key topics, the UIMLA Executive Board (BEx) meets virtually at least once a month.

However, in-person meetings—although increasingly rare due to factors such as cost and sustainability—remain by far the most productive and dynamic.

During an 8-hour marathon session in Brussels, the Board addressed a full agenda, discussing everything from the upcoming General Assembly in November 2025 (to be held in Bulgaria) to long-term planning for the next two years.

The UIMLA BEx is responsible for the strategic leadership, governance, and development of the organization.

Current members of the BEx are:

Ian Spare (UK) – President

Marian Anghel (Romania) – Vice President

Danijela Bucic (Croatia) – General Secretary

Esther Murciano (Spain) – Treasurer

Bill Bailey – Technical Director and the most experienced member of the Board, with over 15 years of dedicated service

A special thank you to Bill and Susanne for their warm hospitality during our time in Brussels!

The current mandate of the BEx runs until November 2027. Until then, the Board remains committed to shaping the future of UIMLA and supporting its expanding global community of professional mountain leaders.
