UIMLA webinars winter 2024/2025

During the winter season, UIMLA hosts a series of online training webinars covering various topics.

The 2024/2025 season began with the Sustainability Webinar on December 11th, coinciding with International Mountain Day. This session featured Norwegian-based guests Laurent Fouinat, Lucian Negruț and Marian Anghel from the UIMLA board.

In early January, the Mountain Safety Webinar was held, featuring our now-regular guest from Switzerland, Manuel Genswein, alongside Ian Spare from the UIMLA board.

Most recently, on January 14th, we hosted the Outdoor Risk Management Webinar, a crucial topic for outdoor professionals. This year, we welcomed a special guest, Jeff Baierlein from Viristar, a leading provider of risk management training courses in the United States. Marian Anghel introduced Jeff to our audience.

So far, these webinars have attracted around 1,000 participants from over 30 countries across four continents. Some sessions are exclusive to International Mountain Leaders (IMLs), while others are open to the public.

The UIMLA education program continues in the coming weeks with webinars on the following topics:

  • 29 January – Outdoor Active App
  • 18 February – The New UIMLA Training Standard (approved in November 2024)
  • March (TBC)- High-Altitude Mountain Medicine
